Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Chance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimmy Chance will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Connor!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Chance!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chance with a jab.

Connor drives through with a takedown into guard.
Connor throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chance works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Chance keeping moving, preventing Connor from controlling successfully.
Chance looking to hit a scissor sweep but Connor is one step ahead there.
Connor stays in close to Chance's body and controls the position.
Connor throws a strike but Chance rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Connor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chance looking to pass the guard.
Chance loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chance in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Connor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Connor content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Connor wants to control but Chance is keeping him busy.

Connor is trying to control. Chance wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Connor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chance makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Chance walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Connor checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Chance throws a shot to the body.
Chance defending well as Connor loads up on a big left hand.
Chance has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Chance thuds his right hand into Connor's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Connor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chance tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Connor is in Chance's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chance wants to get back to his feet but Connor is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jimmy Chance will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Connor moves out of range as Chance strikes.
Jimmy Chance is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chance throws a lazy right hand but Connor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Connor swings widly with a right hand
and Chance counters with a series of strikes. Connor will be more careful next time no doubt.
Connor throws a body punch but Chance moves out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Chance. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Chance.
Chance tries to close the distance and clinch but Connor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chance throws a head kick but Connor moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and Connor tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chance is defended easily by Connor.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Connor loads up on a big right hand but Chance slips the punch.

and Connor counters by moving into the clinch.
Chance is trying to push Connor away but Connor has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Connor tries to throw a body punch but Chance avoids it by throwing Connor back against the cage.
Chance wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Connor has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Connor can't find room to land a body shot as Chance controls the action.
Chance wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Connor lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Chance is breathing heavily.

Connor gets control of Chance's arms and successfully pulls guard. Connor will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Connor is on top in guard.

Chance is wriggling around but Connor manages to pass to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Connor passes to full mount!

Connor lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chance hang on?
Chance is trying desperately to improve position.

It looks like Jimmy Chance has been cut.
John Connor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Connor postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Chance badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Connor around the waist but Connor pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Connor is the winner by TKO! Connor jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Connor!
John Connor retains his heavyweight title!
Our winner, John Connor, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
