PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Bullar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Patrick Bullar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, George Murray!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray scores with a nice right hand.
Murray tries to clinch but Bullar is having none of it.
An attempted straight right counter from Bullar misses the target.
Bullar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bullar throws a body shot but no joy.
Bullar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Murray looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Murray fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Murray shoots for a double leg takedown but Bullar sprawls well. He's pushed Murray's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bullar went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Murray shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bullar pinned against the cage. Bullar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bullar instigates a clinch.
Murray wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bullar has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murray tries to pull guard but Bullar holds him up against the cage and eventually Murray drops back down to his feet.
Patrick Bullar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Murray.
Murray misses with a hook from the clinch.
Bullar jumps guard but Murray turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Bullar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bullar lands a nice looking body shot.
Bullar scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Bullar drives through and clinches with Murray against the cage.
Murray can't break the clinch.
Bullar lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Murray or not.
Bullar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Murray pulls his leg out and moves away.
Murray tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bullar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Murray is looking to clinch.
Bullar scores with the left hand. Murray knows he should have avoided that one.
Murray misses with an uppercut. Bullar saw that one coming.
George Murray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bullar closes the distance and clinches.
Murray is trying to pull guard but Bullar turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Bullar breaks the clinch.

Bullar works Murray's body with a nice hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murray moves in looking to clinch but Bullar pushes him off.
Bullar lands a right hook to the body.
Patrick Bullar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Murray ducks right into an uppercut from Bullar.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bullar!
Bullar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bullar scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Bullar clinches up with Murray and pushes him back against the cage.
Murray is pressed up against the cage. Bullar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Murray down to the mat. Murray avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Murray shoots for a takedown but Bullar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Bullar gets a clinch.
Bullar wants to take the fight to the mat but Murray manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Bullar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bullar clinches up against the cage.
Murray tries to break the clinch but Bullar is controlling the position.
Murray tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bullar jumps into guard, dragging Murray to the mat.
Bullar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Bullar looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Murray has picked Bullar up and slammed him! Bullar can't keep hold of the triangle and Murray manages to pass to side control!
Bullar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bullar tries to get out of the position.
Bullar is looking to regain half guard here but Murray keeps moving and retains side control.
Murray is looking to take a break and control but Bullar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bullar tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bullar avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Murray.
Murray trying to control the action but Bullar is working from the bottom.
Bullar is trying to control Murray's posture but Murray avoids it.
Murray gets to mount! Bullar was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Murray is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bullar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Murray walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Bullar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Murray stands up and waves to Bullar to follow him.
Murray keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Murray shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bullar sprawls well. Bullar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Murray gets slowly back to his feet.
George Murray is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bullar instigates a clinch.
Bullar has Murray pushed against the cage.
A right hook to the body lands for Bullar.

Bullar breaks the clinch.
Murray tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bullar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bullar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Murray.

Bullar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Murray is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bullar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Murray regains guard.

Murray has his feet on Bullar's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bullar leaves Murray with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bullar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Sloppy strikes from Murray. Those never looked like landing.
Murray shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Bullar pushes Murray up against the cage in a clinch.

Bullar pulls Murray into guard.

Bullar has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Murray off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Murray throws out a loose jab but Bullar uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bullar circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bullar attempts a counter takedown but Murray avoids it well and moves away.

Murray clinches up against the cage.

Bullar prevents a takedown attempt there.
Murray is breathing heavily.
Murray is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bullar is defending well for now.
Bullar is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Murray tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bullar just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bullar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bullar wants a takedown but no success here.

Bullar pulls Murray into guard.
Murray trying to control the position from guard on top but Bullar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Murray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Murray wants to control from the top but Bullar keeps moving.

Bullar working for submissions but it's allowed Murray to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Murray dives in for a single leg takedown but Bullar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bullar has closed the distance and engaged Murray in a clinch.
Bullar gets through Murray's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Murray on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bullar is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Murray to keep the fight standing.
Bullar has Murray pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Murray manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bullar tightens his grip and picks Murray up, before dumping him to the ground. Murray manages to land in guard.

Murray manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Patrick Bullar is winning the standup battle so far.

Bullar clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Murray is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Murray is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bullar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Murray.

Bullar has hold of one of Murray's legs. Murray is fighting the takedown attempt but Bullar gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Bullar stays in close to Murray's body and controls the position.

Bullar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Murray gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bullar is looking to wear down Murray with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Murray is pressed up against the cage. Bullar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Murray down to the mat. Murray avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Bullar scores with a hook to the body. Murray takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bullar lands a body shot.

Murray doesn't manage to clinch there - Bullar circles away.
Bullar swats away the attempt to clinch by Murray.
It looked like Bullar wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Murray fails with the takedown.

Bullar forces Murray back against the cage and clinches.
Bullar tries to pull guard but Murray won't allow it.

Bullar is trying to trip Murray. He has hold of a leg but Murray is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bullar persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Murray pushes Bullar off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murray misses with a takedown attempt - Bullar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Murray gets tackled into the cage by Bullar. Bullar maintains the clinch.
George Murray has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bullar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Patrick Bullar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bullar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
