PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Francesco Owens has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvarez moves into the clinch successfully.
Owens really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Alvarez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Owens up against the cage.
Owens wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Alvarez has him pressed against the cage.

Owens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Alvarez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alvarez can do anything to dispel that myth.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Owens looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alvarez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Owens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Owens connects with a nice short shot to Alvarez's temple.
