Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Delmar Michael! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Gordon! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gordon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Gordon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gordon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gordon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gordon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Michael is just riding it out for now. Gordon eventually gives up the hold. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gordon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gordon seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Gordon seems to be working for a kimura but Michael defends the submission attempt. Gordon tries to stand and escape but Michael is controlling the position. Michael is defending against the submission attempts here by Gordon.
Gordon is looking for a kimura but Michael is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gordon to get the leverage. Gordon is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Michael still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Michael has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Michael takes a little break here. Gordon wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Gordon is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gordon regains half guard. Gordon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Michael is keen to just control but Gordon is a slippery customer. Gordon tries to get to full guard but Michael has control of the leg. Gordon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Michael will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gordon keeping moving, preventing Michael from controlling successfully. Gordon looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gordon wants to sweep here but Michael controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Michael wants to control from the top but Gordon keeps moving. Gordon wants to improve his position but instead Michael has moved into half guard.

Gordon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Michael perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Gordon is trying to get back to full guard. Gordon is defending against the submission attempts here by Michael.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Michael wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gordon keeps working. Michael prevents Gordon from improving his position. Gordon gets back to full guard.
Gordon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Michael manages to get himself to full guard.

Gordon wants to pass the guard but Michael is keeping the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Gordon dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gordon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Michael looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Michael is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Michael's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Michael prevents Gordon from improving position. Michael struggling a bit here. Gordon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Gordon working away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gordon swings around for an armbar but Michael sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gordon's guard. Gordon looking for a sweep. Not yet Gordon, not yet. Gordon keeping full guard, as Michael tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Michael trying to control the position from guard on top but Gordon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gordon wants to sweep here but Michael controlling him for the moment. Gordon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Michael is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gordon. Michael slows the pace down. Michael wants to control but Gordon is keeping him busy. Gordon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gordon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gordon. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Michael doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gordon is tightening it up a little... Michael has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Michael reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Michael taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gordon!
