PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chase Rowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javi Castillejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chase Rowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Javi Castillejo!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rowe clinches up with Castillejo and pushes him back against the cage.
Castillejo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rowe lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rowe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rowe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rowe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rowe controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rowe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rowe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castillejo to the mat! Castillejo manages to get full guard.
Rowe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Castillejo uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Castillejo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Rowe is looking to stand up but Castillejo isn't so interested in that idea.
Rowe looking for a sweep. Not yet Rowe, not yet.
Castillejo won't allow Rowe to get back to his feet.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rowe holds on and takes a little breather.
Rowe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rowe has his hands on Castillejo's head, controlling the position.
Castillejo won't allow Rowe to get back to his feet.
Castillejo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rowe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Castillejo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rowe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Castillejo wants to control but Rowe passes easily into half guard.

Castillejo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rowe scores with a couple of nice shots.
Rowe content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rowe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rowe is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rowe is trying to pull guard but Castillejo has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rowe wriggles free and stands up.
Rowe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Castillejo tries to avoid it but Rowe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Castillejo to the ground. Castillejo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rowe closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Castillejo's guard.

Castillejo wants to stand and escape but Rowe is having none of it.
Rowe stays in close to Castillejo's body and controls the position.
Rowe throwing strikes but missing.
Castillejo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rowe engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rowe throws a big right hand that misses.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rowe postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Rowe manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Castillejo on his heels. He'll look to pass Castillejo's guard now, I'm sure.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Rowe takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Castillejo enables Rowe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Castillejo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rowe is in close to Castillejo's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rowe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
