Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keenan Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Volchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Volchenko is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Roar of the Lion. Ivan Volchenko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keenan Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Volchenko!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volchenko throws a right and a left that Lester avoids nicely.
Volchenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Lester sprawls well. He's pushed Volchenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Volchenko darts in trying to clinch
and Lester makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

A looping hook to the body misses from Volchenko. Lester does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lester tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lester closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lester lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lester throws a strike but Volchenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lester lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Volchenko is doing well to control the position and prevent Lester from advancing to side control.

Volchenko wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lester has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lester decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Volchenko, up you get!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Keenan Lester.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lester, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
