Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Dreesen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ian Higgins was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins is looking to score with low kicks.
Sloppy strikes from Higgins. Those never looked like landing.
Higgins just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromDreesen.
Higgins looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dreesen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Dreesen moves out of range of the body kick.
Dreesen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Higgins throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Dreesen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
A right handed body shot lands from Dreesen.
Higgins throws a punch but it's blocked by Dreesen.
Dreesen scores with a nice hook to the head.
Dreesen lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
A nice left hand lands by Dreesen.
Dreesen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dreesen lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Higgins swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Higgins misses with a body punch.
Dreesen is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Higgins wants to get back to striking at distance but Dreesen won't allow it.

Dreesen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Higgins's efforts to push away.
Still in the clinch, Dreesen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Dreesen presses Higgins against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Dreesen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Higgins.

Dreesen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Higginss head.
Higgins is still on wobbly legs! Can Dreesen finish him?

Dreesen lands an uppercut that drops Higgins! Dreesen follows him to the canvas looking to finish.
Higgins gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Dreesen content just to control the position here.

Higgins seems to have recovered his senses.

Dreesen stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Higgins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dreesen can pounce on him.

Dreesen sends Higgins crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dreesen is motioning to the referee to let Higgins up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Both fighters circling a little - Dreesen finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Higgins takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Higgins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dreesen can pounce on him.

Dreesen instigates a clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Dreesen.
Dreesen throws a big uppercut that drops Higgins! More strikes from Dreesen and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Higgins lies dazed against the cage as Dreesen celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Virgil Dreesen!
During a confident post fight interview, Virgil Dreesen thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
