Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Cheng Ki Won! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Walter Mattos! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ki Won is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mattos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ki Won shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mattos pinned against the cage. Mattos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Mattos throws a hook to the side of Ki Won's head but Ki Won sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nice body kick from Mattos. Ki Won shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mattos counters with an outside leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cheng Ki Won. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ki Won fails to land the takedown. Mattos is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Mattos throws a nice head kick!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ki Won looking to score a takedown here. Mattos is defending well but Ki Won drives through and ends up in Mattos's guard. Mattos trying to keep a closed guard but Ki Won is proving a slippery customer.

Mattos is looking to reverse the position. Mattos can't do much from the bottom here. Ki Won tries to score with some ground and pound. Mattos controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. You can see the frustration on Mattos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The strikes coming from Ki Won are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Ki Won postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mattos is trying to get back to half guard. Mattos stops Ki Won from passing to mount. Ki Won wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mattos, who protects the arm well. Ki Won prevents Mattos from escaping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mattos tries to bench press Ki Won off him but Ki Won keeps the position. Ki Won misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mattos wants to control but Ki Won postures up. Ki Won is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mattos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mattos avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ki Won. Ki Won working away. Ki Won working the ground and pound but Mattos is defending the strikes. Ki Won working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ki Won in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Mattos defending against the ground and pound. Mattos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Ki Won is looking to escape. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Mattos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cheng Ki Won dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mattos lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ki Won's sensitive parts. Mattos throws a combination. Ki Won tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Ki Won bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mattos wants to get back to his feet. Mattos dodges the ground and pound from Ki Won. You can see the frustration on Mattos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mattos tries to escape but Ki Won is in control. Mattos can't do much from the bottom here. Ki Won scoring with punches and elbows. Ki Won lands a decent elbow from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mattos takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Mattos is looking to regain half guard here but Ki Won keeps moving and retains side control. Mattos pushes Ki Won away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ki Won gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The strikes coming from Ki Won are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Mattos is trying to control Ki Won's posture but Ki Won avoids it. Ki Won prevents Mattos from escaping the position. Check out the look on Ki Won's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Ki Won throwing wild punches that miss their target. Ki Won throwing sloppy strikes. Ki Won misses with an elbow to the head. Mattos trying to control the action but Ki Won just sinks the hooks in. Ki Won throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Mattos trying to control the position but Ki Won manages to sink in the hooks. Mattos tries to escape the position.
Mattos is trying to get back to his feet but Ki Won has full control of the position and if anything, Mattos has just worked his way into a worse spot. Ki Won avoiding Mattos 's attempts to control his hands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ki Won is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Mattos is tapping out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cheng Ki Won! A very excited looking Cheng Ki Won rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
