6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, The Filipino Champ! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koreshkov looking to score a takedown here. Champ is defending well but Koreshkov drives through and ends up in Champ's guard. Koreshkov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Champ is keeping the position for now. Koreshkov stops Champ from standing up. Koreshkov with a flurry of punches that miss. Koreshkov won't allow Champ to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Champ can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Koreshkov controls the pace. Koreshkov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Koreshkov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Koreshkov postures up in Champ's guard and throws a big left but Champ blocks it. Koreshkov throws a strike but Champ rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Koreshkov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Champ postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Champ lands a couple of decent looking shots. Koreshkov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Champ with a flurry of punches that miss. Champ is fighting to break Koreshkov's control of his arms but Koreshkov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Champ throwing strikes but missing. Champ with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Koreshkov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Champ is one step ahead there.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Excellent takedown into side control there by Koreshkov. Koreshkov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Champ is trying to escape and get back to his feet. That's three minutes gone in the round. Koreshkov in side control, throwing shots but Champ defends. Koreshkov landing a few strikes. Koreshkov misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Champ wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Koreshkov landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Koreshkov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Champ is not content to let Koreshkov control the position.

Koreshkov lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Champ tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Koreshkov lands shots from the back. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Koreshkov is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Champ knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Champ for a finish. Koreshkov has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Champ's body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Koreshkov is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Champ can't fight it off and eventually Koreshkov manages to take the fight to the floor. Champ looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Koreshkov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Champ's head. Champ wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Koreshkov manages to pass to side control. Koreshkov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Koreshkov content to control rather than advance. Champ looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Koreshkov with the ground and pound but Champ uses the opportunity to regain guard. Champ keeping full guard, as Koreshkov tries to pass. Koreshkov with a flurry of punches that miss. Koreshkov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Koreshkov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Koreshkov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Champ's head. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Champ working his ground and pound in the gym. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Koreshkov is on top in guard.

Ground and pound from Koreshkov. Koreshkov is taking a breather. Champ says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Koreshkov looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Champ wants to get back to his feet.

Koreshkov looks up at the clock and then as Champ takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Koreshkov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Champ is rocked! Koreshkov scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Champ is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Koreshkov can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
