PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Fredrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fredrick has chosen Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz: Throw It Up as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ronald Fredrick enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustavo Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronald Fredrick!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to clinch but Fredrick moves out of range.
Diaz moves into range and connects with a jab.


It looks like Ronald Fredrick has been cut.
Diaz scores with a hook to the body. Fredrick takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fredrick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.
Diaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fredrick doesn't seem bothered though.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fredrick looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Fredrick moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.
Diaz holding his opponent close, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fredrick creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Diaz is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Fredrick on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Diaz is trying to break free.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fredrick unloads a knee to the mid-section. Diaz lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Diaz manages to break the clinch.
Diaz misses the shot to the body.
Diaz moves in looking to clinch but Fredrick pushes him off.
Fredrick uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Fredrick tries to counter with a clinch but Diaz shakes him off and moves away.
Fredrick uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Diaz.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Fredrick.
Fredrick using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Diaz has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Fredrick manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fredrick told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Diaz is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Fredrick has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Diaz is looking to defend but Fredrick has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Diaz! Fredrick pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Diaz taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ronald Fredrick!
