PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Garret Greene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Machin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Garret Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Machin!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machin tries to clinch up but Greene circles away and keeps his distance.
Greene throws a head kick that misses.

Machin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Greene quickly recovers to half guard.
Greene wants to get back to his feet.
Greene trying to control here.
Machin prevents Greene from improving his position.
Greene gets back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Machin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Greene has a closed guard, preventing Machin from standing up.
Machin stays in close to Greene's body and controls the position.
Machin looking to pass the guard.

Machin wants to control from the top but Greene keeps moving.
Greene wants to sweep here but Machin controlling him for the moment.
Machin advances position into side control!

Machin stands up and beckons Greene to his feet.
Greene really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Machin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Machin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Machin feints the counter takedown.
Greene pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Machin.

Machin has his takedown stuffed
enabling Greene to counter with a crisp jab.
Garret Greene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Machin.
Nice sprawl there from Greene as Machin shoots in.
Greene throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Garret Greene is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Machin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Greene defends well and Machin ends up having to push Greene into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Greene wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Miguel Machin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Greene closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Greene breaks from the clinch.

Greene closes the distance and clinches.

Greene's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Greene lands a jab to the head.
Machin with a poor takedown

and Greene counters by moving into the clinch.

Greene pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Greene clinches up against the cage.

Greene breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Greene swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Machin shoots for a takedown but Greene saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Machin looks winded!
Machin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Greene counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Machin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Greene did well to prevent Machin getting side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Greene wants to improve his position but Machin is controlling well.
Greene trying to control but Machin postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greene is looking to improve his position.
Machin is trying to control the action in half guard but Greene is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Machin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Greene knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machin on the ground.

Machin has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Greene defend it? Machin steps over the head and cranks it - Greene is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Machin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miguel Machin!
