Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Booger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Mean A Thing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Booger! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson looks to throw the jab but Booger is out of range. And Booger tries to counter it with a takedown but Nelson pushes his down on his head and steps out. Booger defending well as Nelson loads up on a big left hand. Booger throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nelson was covering up waiting for the punch and Booger finishes the takedown easily into guard. Nelson pushes Booger off and gets back to his feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Nelson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Booger fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Nelson punishes Booger's body with a nice straight punch. This has been an exciting period of action! Booger slips under a jab. Booger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nelson sprawls well initially but Booger persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Booger throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Booger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nelson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Booger. Nelson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Booger shoots in looking for a takedown but Nelson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Booger's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Roy Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Booger. Booger doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Booger throws a combination. Nelson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Nelson drops Booger with a nice combination! Nelson dives into Booger's guard, looking to finish!

It looks like Chris Booger has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Booger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nelson controls the pace. Booger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson trying to control but Booger is working from the bottom. Booger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Nelson content to stall in guard here. Booger wants to sweep here but Nelson controlling him for the moment. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Booger is on him like a limpet, forcing Nelson back against the cage. Booger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nelson walks away with a smile on his face. Booger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nelson lands with a straight right. Booger didn't see that one coming. Nelson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Nelson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Booger drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nelson defends it well. Nelson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nelson scores with the left hand. Booger knows he should have avoided that one. Booger throws a combination. Nelson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Roy Nelson is winning the standup battle so far. Booger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nelson as he avoids it easily. Nelson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Booger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nelson throws a right hand that Booger ducks under and follows up with a left that Booger also avoids with ease. Booger drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Nelson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Nelson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nelson lands a jab to the nose. Nelson waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Booger. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Booger to the canvas! Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Booger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nelson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nelson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've been hearing that Nelson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Booger is trying to keep Nelson in close.
