The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries a head kick but it misses.
D Amato misses with a wild body shot.
Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.
D Amato is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.
Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.
D Amato is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.
Gracie uses his free foot to push down on D Amato's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for D Amato.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
D Amato wants to control but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now D Amato is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. D Amato doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... D Amato has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! D Amato reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! D Amato taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gracie!
