Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Djin Dawn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ricardo Carvalho has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Djin Dawn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricardo Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho throws the left hand but Dawn avoids the punch easily.
Dawn tries for a takedown but Carvalho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dawn pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carvalho back to the cage. Dawn follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Dawn darts in and clinches Carvalho up against the cage.

Dawn works on Carvalho's body with a couple of short punches.
Dawn can't find room to land a body shot as Carvalho controls the action.
Carvalho tries to break free but Dawn pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dawn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Dawn lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

It looks like Ricardo Carvalho has been cut.
Dawn is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Dawn tightens his grip and picks Carvalho up, before dumping him to the ground. Carvalho manages to land in guard.

Carvalho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dawn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dawn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dawn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Carvalho for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Carvalho dodges the punch combination from Dawn.
Dawn thows a leg kick but Carvalho checks it
and Carvalho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Djin Dawn has been cut.

Dawn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Dawn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carvalho circles away quickly and effectively.
Dawn explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Dawn lands a jab-cross combination.
Dawn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Carvalho bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dawn dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carvalho. That did some damage!

Dawn moves into the clinch successfully.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carvalho tries to break free but Dawn pushes him back against the cage.

Dawn lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Carvalho backwards.

Dawn gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Carvalho regains guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dawn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Dawn stands and throws Carvalho's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Carvalho takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Dawn tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Carvalho works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Dawn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dawn stays in close to Carvalho's body and controls the position.
Dawn is looking to work some ground and pound but Carvalho has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dawn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Djin Dawn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dawn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dawn comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Djin Dawn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carvalho is trying to break the clinch but Dawn has him pressed against the cage.
Dawn makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Dawn lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Carvalho or not.

Dawn has his foot on Carvalho's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carvalho works his way back into a safe position though.

Dawn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carvalho's guard.

Dawn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Carvalho has momentary wrist control but Dawn slips an elbow through the middle.

Djin Dawn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dawn lands with a nice body punch.

Carvalho throws out a counter right but Dawn avoids it with no problem.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Carvalho! But no joy.

Carvalho lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Dawn falls backwards - clearly groggy! Carvalho dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
