2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Doe! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferreira decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ferreira is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Doe is just riding it out for now. Ferreira eventually gives up the hold. Ferreira is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Doe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ferreira. Doe pushes Ferreira off looking to stand but Ferreira dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferreira wants to work for an arm triangle but Doe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ferreira takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferreira walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Doe shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ferreira eats them both and turns towards Doe to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Ferreira is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Doe can do to turn this around? Ferreira tries to close the distance and clinch but Doe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Doe lands a lovely overhand right. Ferreira misses with a hook. Doe throws a good cross that connects.

Ferreira needs to keep his hands up - Doe had a free shot at his head there. A punch combination from Doe misses. This has been an exciting period of action! Doe tries a head kick but it misses.
Ferreira shoots in looking for a takedown but Doe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ferreira's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Doe throws a series of punches but Ferreira avoids them all with ease. Doe moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Ferreira is rocked! Ferreira bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ferreira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Doe, who protects the arm well. Ferreira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Doe wants to get back to his feet but Ferreira drags him back down. Doe is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ferreira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Doe is looking to regain half guard here but Ferreira keeps moving and retains side control.
