Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
30 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Randolph Turpin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
41 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Declan Sweeney! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Turpin.
Turpin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Sweeney shoots and misses and Turpin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Turpin lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Sweeney misses with a shot to the body and Turpin counters with a nice body kick.
Sweeney misses with a straight right. Turpin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sweeney. Turpin feints and then cracks Sweeney's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sweeney down. Sweeney throws a lazy right hand but Turpin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Turpin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Sweeney looks winded! Sweeney throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Turpin counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Turpin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sweeney moves out of range as Turpin throws a body kick.
Sweeney tries to work over Turpin's front leg with a kick but Turpin checks it. Turpin swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Turpin connects with a body shot that sends Sweeney's belly button to the back. Turpin looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've been informed that Sweeney has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Turpin scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Sweeney takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sweeney looks to score with a jab to the body but Turpin is just out of range. Turpin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sweeney.
Sweeney shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turpin as he avoids it easily. It looked like Turpin was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Sweeney. Turpin stuffs the takedown attempt from Sweeney. Sweeney gets slowly back to his feet. Randolph Turpin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Declan Sweeney. Turpin scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Turpin connects with a body shot that sends Sweeney's belly button to the back. Turpin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Turpin delivers a nice body kick. Turpin lands a really nice looking cross but Sweeney seems unphased.
It looks like Declan Sweeney has been cut. Turpin swinging wildly here.
Turpin takes a swing at Sweeney's ribcage but misses. Turpin is looking to land body kicks. Sweeney wants to counter the offense by Turpin and move into the clinch position.

Turpin connects with a solid leg kick. Turpin is looking to wear down Sweeney with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Turpin shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Turpin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Sweeney's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Turpin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sweeney manages to avoid it. Sweeney tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Turpin lands with a nice body kick. Sweeney misses with a body punch
and Turpin counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Turpin looks for the body kick but Sweeney saw that one coming. Sweeney throws a sloppy body shot
and Turpin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Turpin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Sweeney on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Turpin. Turpin obviously looking to wear him down.
Turpin explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Turpin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sweeney has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Turpin dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sweeney. That did some damage! Sweeney misses with a right hand and Turpin counters with a nice leg kick. Turpin swings for the body but Sweeney moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turpin cracks Sweeney with an open hand slap. Turpin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Sweeney avoids a kick to the body.
You can see that Sweeney has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks Turpin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Turpin looks to land a body kick but Sweeney moved away. Turpin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sweeney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Turpin paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sweeney throws a hook but Turpin avoids it easily. A quick step to the side and Turpin tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Turpin is looking to slow Sweeney down with leg kicks. Turpin avoids the body shot from Sweeney.
Turpin cracks the inside of Sweeney's front leg. Turpin scores with a nice right hand.
Sweeney misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Turpin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Turpin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Randolph Turpin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sweeney swings away with a body shot that misses

Turpin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Turpin is looking to slow Sweeney down with leg kicks. Sweeney takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Turpin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sweeney will feel that in the morning. Turpin connects with an inside leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Turpin counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Turpin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Sweeney shoots in looking for a takedown. Turpin tries to sprawl out of it but Sweeney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turpin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Sweeney might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Turpin has got the better of the exchanges. A slow jab from Sweeney misses its intended target. Turpin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sweeney. Turpin misses with an attempted mid kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sweeney throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Turpin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sweeney can do to turn this around? Good exchange - Turpin coming out on top. Sweeney is breathing heavily. Turpin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sweeney at a distance.
Sweeney drives through with a takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Turpin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turpin pulls Sweeney in to control the position. Sweeney in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Turpin managing to control the position. Sweeney throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Sweeney missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sweeney with a nice head shot there. Turpin wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sweeney is looking to work some ground and pound but Turpin has wrist control. Turpin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Turpin is pulling down on Sweeney's head. It's preventing any offense from Sweeney, at least for the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Turpin pushes Sweeney away with a front kick. Sweeney scores with a jab. Turpin acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Sweeney has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Turpin. Turpin works the jab nicely. Nice takedown defense from Turpin. No joy for Sweeney on that attempt. Turpin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Sweeney has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Turpin. A thudding body kick lands there by Turpin!
Turpin jabs Sweeney to the body, keeping him at a distance. Sweeney takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turpin thuds his right hand into Sweeney's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. A good leg kick by Turpin. Sweeney dives in for a single leg takedown but Turpin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Randolph Turpin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Declan Sweeney. Turpin fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Sweeney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Turpin lands with a kick to the ribs.
Turpin lands a nice leg kick that just misses Sweeney's sensitive parts. Turpin listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That has opened up Declan Sweeney's cut even more. Turpin feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sweeney sprawling to the canvas! Sweeney rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Turpin finish him?!
Sweeney is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Turpin scores with a shot to the body.

and Turpin counters with a right hand to the body. Turpin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sweeney. Turpin circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Sweeney to the canvas! Sweeney doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Turpin keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Randolph Turpin! Randolph Turpin retains his super heavyweight title! Randolph Turpin looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Thanks for taking the fight. Brave Man.'. Declan Sweeney spoke after the fight, saying 'It feels so good to get a big victory tonight, I want to thank my sponsors, my fans my fam....... Hey what??? What do you mean I didn't win??? This is an outrage!!'.
