Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sultan Aliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whisper Welker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aliev comes to the cage accompanied by Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal. Whisper Welker is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Aliev's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Aliev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Aliev tries to break the clinch but Welker is controlling the position.
Welker lands a body shot in the clinch.

Aliev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aliev avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Aliev drops his hands momentarily and Welker takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Welker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Aliev takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Welker is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Aliev's shoulder. That is not cool.

Welker is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Welker gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Welker gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Welker apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Welker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Aliev shoots for a double leg takedown but Welker sprawls well. He's pushed Aliev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Welker connects with a right hand. Aliev shakes it off.

Aliev shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Welker is trying to defend but Aliev finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Welker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Welker moves away from the strike by Aliev.
Aliev takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Aliev shoots for a double leg takedown but Welker sprawls well. He's pushed Aliev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Welker fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Aliev will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Aliev shoots for a takedown but Welker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Welker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aliev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Welker is in Aliev's guard.
Welker throws a strike but Aliev rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aliev wants to pass the guard but Welker is keeping the position.
Welker has control of Aliev's left arm, preventing Aliev from doing any damage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Welker is on top in guard.

Aliev on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aliev tries to get out of the position.
Aliev is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Welker is controlling him.
Welker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aliev works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Welker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Welker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Aliev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
