Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome Greer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brendan Maranz! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Greer has Maranz up against the cage in a clinch.
Greer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Maranz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Maranz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Greer walks away with a smile on his face. Maranz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Greer clinches. Maranz is trying to pull guard but Greer turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Greer tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA New York inform us that Maranz has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Greer is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Maranz has momentary wrist control but Greer slips an elbow through the middle. Greer distracts Maranz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Greer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Greer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Greer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Greer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maranz can do to turn this around? Greer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Greer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Maranz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Greer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maranz sprawls well initially but Greer persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Nice strikes from Greer there. Greer trying to control the pace. Greer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maranz for as long as he can get away with. Greer lands with a punch from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Greer controlling the action here. Greer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Jerome Greer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. The fight moves into the clinch position. The referee calls for Greer to work.
Greer jumps guard and drags Maranz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Greer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maranz is one step ahead there. Maranz content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Greer has locked up a guillotine! Greer's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Maranz is holding on here and Greer must be using up a lot of energy. Maranz has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Greer gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
