Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Denis Kang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vitor Alves! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A bone on bone clash there as Alves blocks the leg kick.
Alves blocks a head kick by Kang.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt. Kang pivots, looking for a leg kick but Alves is out of range and Kang settles back down. Kang misses with a few strikes there.
Alves tries to clinch there but Kang circles away.
Kang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Alves. Kang looks to land a body kick but Alves moved away. Alves buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Alves should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Alves tries to clinch there but Kang circles away.
Alves wants to clinch up but Kang keeps it at a distance. Kang works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Kang stuns Alves with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Alves is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kang fails in his attempt to clinch. Alves darts in trying to clinch and Kang counters by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kang moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Kang tries to bum rush Alves with a series of wild strikes but Alves uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kang has Alves up against the cage in a clinch.
Kang blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Alves stalling in the clinch but Kang improves position. Nice body punch from Kang. Kang breaks from the clinch.
Kang throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Alves. This has been an exciting period of action! Kang misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Vitor Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves shoots and misses and Kang counters with a lovely straight right hand! Alves tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kang counters with a head kick from the bowels of hell that crumples Alves! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Denis Kang!
