Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 15 - 1, fighting out of New York, Artie DeVanzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aznar Thrul!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVanzo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Thrul throws out the jab.
An attempted straight right counter from DeVanzo misses the target.
DeVanzo misses with a body kick.
DeVanzo throws a right hand that misses
and Thrul counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A left lands for DeVanzo.


It looks like Aznar Thrul has been cut.

and Thrul counters with a low kick, right behind DeVanzo 's knee.
DeVanzo tries to work over Thrul's front leg with a kick but Thrul checks it.
Thrul tries to clinch but DeVanzo moves out of range.
DeVanzo shoots in for a takedown but Thrul shows good takedown defense.
DeVanzo checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A low kick from DeVanzo is predictable there

and Thrul counters with a nice double leg into side control. DeVanzo won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thrul fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Thrul working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Thrul wants to control but DeVanzo is keeping him busy.
DeVanzo is looking for a sweep.

Thrul lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear DeVanzo down.
DeVanzo regains half guard there - taking advantage of Thrul's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Thrul throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

DeVanzo tries to get to full guard but Thrul has control of the leg.

DeVanzo looking for submissions off his back.

Thrul is nestled in close to DeVanzo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Thrul throwing shots but DeVanzo is blocking nicely.
Thrul is keen to just control but DeVanzo is a slippery customer.

DeVanzo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Thrul.
Thrul looking to sit in guard and control but DeVanzo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Thrul wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thrul is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
DeVanzo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thrul tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Thrul controls DeVanzo momentarily but DeVanzo frees himself.
DeVanzo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thrul works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
DeVanzo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Thrul lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
DeVanzo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
DeVanzo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Thrul scoring with punches to the head and body.

DeVanzo looking for subs off his back but Thrul has passed one foot through into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thrul connects with a nice short shot to DeVanzo's temple.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Thrul is looking to take a break and control but DeVanzo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thrul thows an elbow strike that misses. DeVanzo gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Thrul doesn't seem too bothered but DeVanzo quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Thrul is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Thrul really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

During a confident post fight interview, Artie DeVanzo thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
