Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michel Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hendrik Van Der Velden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Der Velden has chosen Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michel Calderon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hendrik Van Der Velden! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calderon goes for a double leg but Van Der Velden avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Van Der Velden continues to drive forward. Despite the aggression on Van Der Velden's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Van Der Velden drives through with a takedown into Calderon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Van Der Velden's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Calderon looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Calderon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Calderon keeping full guard, as Van Der Velden tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Van Der Velden slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Calderon is trying to control the position but Van Der Velden postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Der Velden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Calderon looking for a sweep. Not yet Calderon, not yet. Calderon trying to keep a closed guard but Van Der Velden is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Van Der Velden drives through with a takedown into guard. Calderon wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Van Der Velden manages to pass to side control. Calderon trying to hold on to Van Der Velden's head to control him but Van Der Velden postures up.
Calderon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calderon wants to get back to full guard. Van Der Velden perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. It looks like Van Der Velden might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Calderon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Van Der Velden gets to his feet. Calderon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calderon rushes Van Der Velden and presses him up against the cage. Van Der Velden has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Calderon uses from the top position. Calderon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Calderon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Van Der Velden bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Calderon tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Van Der Velden keeps control of the position easily here as Calderon tries to buck him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Calderon wants to control his opponent's hands but Van Der Velden gets his hands free. Van Der Velden slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Van Der Velden really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Calderon. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Van Der Velden is continuing to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calderon tries to get back to half guard but can't. Calderon really is a fat lump. Calderon is being controlled here. Calderon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Van Der Velden off and has taken his back! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Calderon not allowing Van Der Velden to control his hands. That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Calderon has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Van Der Velden trying to control the hands but Calderon won't let him. Van Der Velden can't escape the position.

Van Der Velden knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Van Der Velden for a finish. Van Der Velden rolls, trying to escape but Calderon keeps control of the position.

Calderon can't keep his opponent in guard - Van Der Velden advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Van Der Velden perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Calderon is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Van Der Velden sitting and controlling from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michel Calderon dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Van Der Velden postures up in Calderon's guard and throws a big left but Calderon blocks it. Van Der Velden throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Calderon is looking to regain half guard here but Van Der Velden keeps moving and retains side control. Van Der Velden passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Calderon! Van Der Velden controlling from mount. Let's hope that Van Der Velden has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Van Der Velden cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Poor strikes thrown by Van Der Velden there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

And that's the end of the fight! Hendrik Van Der Velden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Van Der Velden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
