PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Steller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marjorie Dawes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steller tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dawes defends well and Steller ends up having to push Dawes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dawes with the counter takedown but Steller avoids it easily.
Dawes shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Steller with that takedown attempt.
Steller displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dawes.
Steller tries to counter by clinching up but Dawes breaks away and moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Steller as Dawes shoots in.
Ben Steller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marjorie Dawes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dawes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steller to the ground. Dawes is now in Steller's guard.

Dawes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dawes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Steller wants to control the position but Dawes says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Dawes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dawes thows a huge punch but Steller dodges it nicely.

Dawes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Steller has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dawes but great work by Steller.

Dawes is punishing Steller with some ground and pound.

Dawes has managed to slip his arm under Steller's chin. This could be all over... yep, Steller is tapping out! Submission win for Dawes.
