Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Walton Kunz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bubba John Everett! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kunz wants to clinch. Everett fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kunz manages to avoid it. A big left from Kunz misses. Kunz wants to clinch. Walton Kunz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Everett looks to land a combination. Kunz sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Kunz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Everett as he jumps to the side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Everett connects with a single shot there. Kunz tries to clinch up but Everett circles away and keeps his distance. Everett steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kunz. Everett darts in and clinches Kunz up against the cage. Everett on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Everett gets through Kunz's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Kunz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Everett is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Everett takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Everett is stalling here.
The crowd are getting on Everett's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Everett effectively controlling the action here. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Bubba John Everett. Everett swats away the attempt to clinch by Kunz. Everett moves into range and clinches up with Kunz. Everett displaying some good clinch control by pressing Kunz up against the cage. Kunz pulls guard. Everett is posturing up here but Kunz has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Everett tries to roll out but it's too tight and Everett has to tap! Slick submission there by Kunz!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Walton Kunz! Walton Kunz bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
