Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Connor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nicky Herrera! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herrera lets loose with a powerful body kick. Connor will feel that in the morning. Connor is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Herrera's half guard. Connor is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Herrera is looking to improve his position.

Connor wants to stand up but Herrera has a hold of him and won't allow it. Connor is thwarting Herrera's attempts to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Connor seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Connor has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Herrera is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Connor drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Herrera uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Herrera throws a right hand that Connor ducks under and follows up with a left that Connor also avoids with ease. Herrera pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Connor back to the cage. Herrera follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Chris Connor has been cut. Connor looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Herrera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Connor sprawls well. Connor wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Herrera gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Connor. Herrera throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Herrera shoots in for a takedown but Connor shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Connor jumps guard but Herrera turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Connor can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Connor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Connor is working for takedown but Herrera is calmly controlling the position for now. Connor has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Herrera is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Connor goes for a takedown in the clinch but Herrera prevents it.

Herrera is trying to control the position but Connor postures up. Herrera has a closed guard, preventing Connor from standing up. Herrera tries to land a sweep but no joy. Connor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Herrera on the ground.

Connor wants to get up but he can't break Herrera's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Herrera has eaten all the pies! Herrera bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Connor's guard. Connor keeping moving, preventing Herrera from controlling successfully. Connor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Herrera is controlling him. Herrera trying to control but Connor is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nicky Herrera dominated that round. The cut man is working on Chris Connor's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Herrera throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Connor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Herrera makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Herrera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Connor swivels and escapes. Chris Connor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Connor shoots in but no luck this time. Herrera wants to counter with a clinch but Connor pushes him away. Herrera fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Herrera shoots in but no luck this time. Connor stuffs the takedown. Chris Connor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicky Herrera. Connor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Herrera pinned against the cage. Herrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Sloppy strikes from Herrera. Those never looked like landing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Herrera goes for a double leg but Connor avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Connor continues to drive forward. Connor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Herrera to the mat! Herrera manages to get full guard. Herrera manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Herrera gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Connor has had enough of the clinch but Herrera keeps him there for the moment. Herrera digs a right hand into Connor's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Connor's gas tank. Herrera's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Herrera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Connor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Connor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Herrera was covering up waiting for the punch and Connor finishes the takedown easily into guard. Herrera is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Connor is trying to pull guard but Herrera turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Herrera is trying to drag Connor to the mat but Connor just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Herrera tries to score a body lock takedown but Connor shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Herrera has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Herrera is trying to break free. Connor wants a takedown but no success here.
Connor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Connor tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Herrera smiles and moves away.
Connor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Herrera! Herrera throws Connor to one side and escapes! Herrera stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Herrera wants it to stay on the feet. Herrera now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Connor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Herrera's guard. Herrera scrambles and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Connor shoots in for a double leg but Herrera sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Herrera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Connor but Connor pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Herrera is defended easily by Connor. Herrera tries to clinch but Connor moves out of range. Connor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Herrera makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Herrera tries to clinch there but Connor circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Connor dives in and scores a takedown into Herrera's guard. Connor wants to stand but Herrera is controlling his posture from full guard. Herrera is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nicky Herrera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Chris Connor's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Connor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Herrera tries to avoid it but Connor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Herrera to the ground. The fight stays on the outside here - Herrera looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Connor bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Connor wants to stand but Herrera is controlling his arm. Connor wants to stand but Herrera has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Herrera throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Herrera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that's the end of the fight! Nicky Herrera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Herrera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
