PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Nike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mike Nike was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glenn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Glenn throws a big shot that misses.
Nike looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Glenn is fending him off so far but Nike persists. Nope, Glenn circles away and we're back to standing.
Glenn moves out of range of the leg kick from Nike.
Nike showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Glenn.
Glenn could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nike.

Nike decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nike thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Glenn's head.

Nike is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Glenn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nike.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Glenn throws a nice looking combination but Nike bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nike shoots for a double leg takedown but Glenn sprawls well. He's pushed Nike's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Glenn slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Glenn shoots in looking for a takedown. Nike tries to sprawl out of it but Glenn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nike manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nike thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Glenn wants to sweep here but Nike controlling him for the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Glenn fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Glenn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nike backs up against the cage.

Glenn tries to clinch but Nike moves out of range.
Glenn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Glenn tries to bum rush Nike with a series of wild strikes but Nike uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Glenn shoots in and drives through. Nike sprawls well.

Nike changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Glenn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Nike works to advance to full mount. Glenn defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Nike looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Nike throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Glenn's waist but Glenn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nike off to one side.

Nike turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nike manages to end up in side control.

Nike tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nike has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nike wants to lay and pray for a moment but Glenn keeps working.

Nike throws a strike aimed at the side of Glenn's head but Glenn avoids it well.
Glenn is looking for a sweep.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Glenn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Glenn clinches but Nike breaks the clinch

so Nike counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nike missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Glenn wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nike accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nike stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Glenn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nike is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mike Nike is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Glenn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Nike counters with a nice double leg into side control. Glenn won't be happy with that.
