Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thad Popcorn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Capanga Junior!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popcorn stalks Junior and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Junior's face. Junior staggers backwards, shaken.
Thad Popcorn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Junior scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
It looks like Thad Popcorn has been cut.
Junior lands with a straight right. Popcorn didn't see that one coming.
Popcorn scores with a push kick.
Popcorn fails in his attempt to clinch.
Junior misses with the combination.
Popcorn closes the distance and pushes Junior back into the cage.
Popcorn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Popcorn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Junior won't allow Popcorn to sweep him here.
Junior controlling from the top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Junior's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Popcorn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Junior sitting in guard here, content to control.
Junior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Popcorn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Popcorn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Popcorn drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Popcorn seems to have locked his on tight now - Junior screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Popcorn, as he picks up the win!
