Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kendrik Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Sturmpruegel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Down comes to the ring accompanied by Let's Go. Sturmpruegel has chosen BYOB - System of a Down as his entrance music. Roberto Sturmpruegel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kendrik Down! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roberto Sturmpruegel! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Down misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sturmpruegel.
Sturmpruegel loads up on a big right hand but Down slips the punch. Sturmpruegel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A nice inside leg kick there by Sturmpruegel. That's going to slow Down down. Sturmpruegel misses with the combination.
Sturmpruegel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Down slips a jab and a cross from Sturmpruegel.
Down cracks Sturmpruegel with an open hand slap. Sturmpruegel misses with a looping right. Kendrik Down seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Down fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Sturmpruegel throws a quick inside leg kick. Jab, jab by Down - just one landing. Sturmpruegel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Down lands a nice shot that snaps Sturmpruegel's head back.

That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Down misses the target. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sturmpruegel! But no joy. Roberto Sturmpruegel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Down moves into range and connects with a jab. Sturmpruegel throws a lazy right hand but Down sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Sturmpruegel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Sturmpruegel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Down was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Sturmpruegel throws a nice looking combination but Down bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Down swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Down shoots in looking for a takedown but Sturmpruegel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Down's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Down misses with a left hand and Sturmpruegel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Kendrik Down has been cut. Sturmpruegel walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Down tries to close the distance and clinch but Sturmpruegel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Down tries to clinch but Sturmpruegel moves out of range. Sturmpruegel looks to land a combination but Down avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sturmpruegel lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice defenses there by Sturmpruegel. Sturmpruegel is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. A punch combination from Sturmpruegel misses. A jab from Down finds it's way through Sturmpruegel's defenses. Down dodges the punch combination from Sturmpruegel.
Down scores with a crisp jab that stopped Sturmpruegel in his tracks. A lazy left from Down finds it's target. Sturmpruegel drops Down with a nice combination! Sturmpruegel dives into Down's guard, looking to finish!
Down is rocked! Down is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Down tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Down blocks a leg kick. Down slips a jab and a cross from Sturmpruegel.
Sturmpruegel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Down in his tracks. Down takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Down throws a hook to the side of Sturmpruegel's head but Sturmpruegel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Sturmpruegel unleashes a big counter combination but Down bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Down cracks Sturmpruegel with a good jab. Down fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roberto Sturmpruegel dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kendrik Down's cut. That's time! Down's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Down is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Down avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Down throwing a counter right hand but Sturmpruegel manages to avoid it. Sturmpruegel dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Down tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Down throws a jab but it's blocked by Sturmpruegel. Sturmpruegel looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Down throws the left hand but Sturmpruegel avoids the punch easily. Sturmpruegel fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sturmpruegel tries a head kick but it misses.
Down takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Down throws a hook to the side of Sturmpruegel's head but Sturmpruegel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Sturmpruegel leaves Down with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Roberto Sturmpruegel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Down misses with a hook. Sturmpruegel throws a counter combo. Nice sprawl there from Sturmpruegel as Down shoots in. Down displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sturmpruegel throws out the jab. Sturmpruegel throws a leg kick but Down checks it. Nice straight punches there by Down. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Down. Sturmpruegel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sturmpruegel takes one to the chin there. Roberto Sturmpruegel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Down gets the takedown into side control. Down controls the position. Down has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sturmpruegel! Sturmpruegel tries to buck Down off but he can't manage it. Down lands a couple of good shots and Sturmpruegel has given up his back, trying to escape the position! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Even with his hooks in, Down manages to miss with strikes from the back. The referee is taking a good look at Sturmpruegel as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Down!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Down's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Even with his hooks in, Down manages to miss with strikes from the back. Sturmpruegel covering up well under a series of strikes from Down. Sturmpruegel trying to get back to his feet but Down is in full control for now. Down softening up his opponent with strikes here.

Down decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Down not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Down wants to control but Sturmpruegel is keeping him busy. Down missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Down throwing shots but Sturmpruegel is blocking nicely. Down thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Down missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Down is just content to waste time from the top position. Sturmpruegel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Down throws a big elbow that misses. Down trying to control the position from guard on top but Sturmpruegel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kendrik Down overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Horrible takedown attempt by Down or perhaps it was just good defense by Sturmpruegel, which made it look bad. Sturmpruegel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Sturmpruegel waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Down. Down throws out a powerful jab. Sturmpruegel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Down lands a jab. Sturmpruegel stuffs the takedown attempt from Down. Down gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sturmpruegel lunges at Down with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Down's hand. Down lands a nice shot that snaps Sturmpruegel's head back.
Down lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Sturmpruegel misses with a hook. Down swings for the body but Sturmpruegel moves out of range.
Sturmpruegel swats away the attempt to clinch by Down. Down shoots in and gets a takedown into Sturmpruegel's guard. Sturmpruegel wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Down manages to pass to side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sturmpruegel won't allow Down to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Down content to control rather than advance. Sturmpruegel tries to kick Down off but Down keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Sturmpruegel tries to kick Down off in order to stand up. Down Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Down throws a strike aimed at the side of Sturmpruegel's head but Sturmpruegel avoids it well. Sturmpruegel defending against the ground and pound. Down trying to control the action but Sturmpruegel is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sturmpruegel is being controlled here. Down wants to control but Sturmpruegel is keeping him busy. Down in side control, throwing shots but Sturmpruegel defends. Sturmpruegel is working to avoid the ground and pound but Down connects with a decent elbow. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Down throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sturmpruegel works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Sturmpruegel looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that's the end of the fight! Kendrik Down showed his dominance in that final round. I think Down has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
