PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gang SukDan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Nedeltsev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ned Nedeltsev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gang SukDan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ned Nedeltsev!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nedeltsev moves away from the strike by SukDan.
Nedeltsev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says SukDan as he avoids it easily.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Nedeltsev - that will leave a mark!
SukDan throws the kick towards the body but Nedeltsev avoids it.
Nedeltsev is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
SukDan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nedeltsev cracks SukDan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Nedeltsev shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Nedeltsev controlling the pace.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nedeltsev lands a nice short elbow.
SukDan is looking to control Nedeltsev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can SukDan avoid being mounted?

Nedeltsev sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Nedeltsev throwing shots but SukDan is blocking nicely.
SukDan strikes from the bottom but Nedeltsev uses the opportunity to move to side control.
A lull in the action here.
SukDan wants to control but Nedeltsev postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nedeltsev in side control lands a decent elbow.
SukDan can't do much from the bottom here.
Nedeltsev tries to advance to mount but can't.
Nedeltsev happy to just control the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nedeltsev decides to stand back up.
Nedeltsev steps to the side to avoid the strikes from SukDan.

Nedeltsev looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for SukDan!
SukDan tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Nedeltsev is riding his opponent, not letting SukDan buck him off.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
SukDan trying to control the hands but Nedeltsev won't let him.
SukDan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nedeltsev is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nedeltsev is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
SukDan covers up after that shot from Nedeltsev.
Nedeltsev really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for SukDan.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Nedeltsev dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

SukDan throws a leg kick but Nedeltsev moved away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Nedeltsev counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Nedeltsev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. SukDan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nedeltsev engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

SukDan wants to get back to his feet but Nedeltsev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Nedeltsev slips nicely into half guard.
Well, if Nedeltsev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ned Nedeltsev has got the better of the ground game so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
SukDan tries to get to full guard but Nedeltsev has control of the leg.
Nedeltsev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Nedeltsev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks SukDan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nedeltsev not doing much here.

Nedeltsev looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
SukDan is looking to improve his position.
Nedeltsev passes to full mount!
Nedeltsev sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Nedeltsev is landing with some decent strikes but SukDan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Nedeltsev controlling the pace for now.
Nedeltsev avoids the attempt from SukDan to control.
Nedeltsev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Nedeltsev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


SukDan throws a body punch but Nedeltsev moves out of range.
Nedeltsev changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
SukDan misses with an uppercut.
SukDan lands a high kick!
SukDan lands a slapping body shot.
Nedeltsev darts in looking for a takedown but SukDan gets double underhooks and turns Nedeltsev into the cage.
SukDan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nedeltsev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. SukDan defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
SukDan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Nedeltsev lands a slapping body shot.

Nedeltsev shoots in and gets a takedown into SukDan's guard.
Nedeltsev engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Let's hope that Nedeltsev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

SukDan throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Nedeltsev with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Nedeltsev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
SukDan tries a head kick but it misses.
A lazy left from SukDan finds it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
SukDan scores with a hook.
SukDan takes a swing at Nedeltsev's ribcage but misses.
SukDan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Nedeltsev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
SukDan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nedeltsev.
Gang SukDan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Nedeltsev.
SukDan misses with a looping right.
SukDan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
SukDan connects with a solid leg kick.
Nedeltsev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
SukDan was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Nedeltsev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has SukDan pinned against the cage. SukDan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
SukDan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nedeltsev manages to circle out of the way.
SukDan throws a head kick but Nedeltsev moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nedeltsev.
SukDan throwing a counter right hand but Nedeltsev manages to avoid it.
SukDan misses with a looping left.
Nedeltsev throws a leg kick but SukDan moved away.
SukDan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nedeltsev blocks a jab.

SukDan tries to sprawl but Nedeltsev drives through with a takedown into half guard.

SukDan has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Nedeltsev is on him like a limpet, forcing SukDan back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nedeltsev jumps into guard, dragging SukDan to the mat.

Nedeltsev pushes SukDan off and scrambles back to his feet.
Gang SukDan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ned Nedeltsev is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Nedeltsev scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gang SukDan showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Nedeltsev has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
