Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Bulger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Isley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that John Bulger has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Bulger seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Isley! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Isley lands a glancing blow to the side of Bulger's head. Bulger throws out a loose jab but Isley uses good head movement to avoid it. Bulger looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A big right from Bulger misses. Isley jabs Bulger to the body, keeping him at a distance. Isley steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bulger. Donk. Isley catches Bulger right on the button with a cross. Isley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Bulger looks for a takedown but Isley sprawls well. Isley staying out of range there. Isley scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Bulger misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bulger looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. John Bulger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bulger moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Bulger needs to keep his hands up - Isley had a free shot at his head there. Bulger swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A little jabbing left from Isley on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Isley connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bulger momentarily.
Bulger throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Isley slips a jab and a cross from Bulger.

Bulger shoots in looking for a takedown but Isley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bulger's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Isley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Isley scores with a punch to the head. Isley connects with a body shot. Isley closes the distance but Bulger moves to the side and Bulger counters with a left to the body. Bulger is looking to clinch but Isley is avoiding it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bulger throws a body shot but no joy. Isley lands a nice shot to the body.

Bulger takes a knee to the side of the body. Isley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Isley forces Bulger back against the cage and clinches. Bulger tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Isley tries to work over Bulger's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Bulger tries for a takedown but Isley manages to get underhooks.
Isley displaying some good clinch control by pressing Bulger up against the cage. Isley lands an elbow inside that Bulger shrugs off. Bulger being controlled against the cage. Isley taking a breather.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Isley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bulger swings widly with a right hand
and Isley counters with a right hand to the body. Isley is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bulger had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Bulger walks into a stiff left hand from Isley. Bulger misses with a hook to the body
and Isley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. This has been an exciting period of action! Danga de danga de dang - Isley scores with a four punch combination! Isley lands a glancing blow to the side of Bulger's head. Bulger tries to clinch but Isley is having none of it. Bulger shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Isley pinned against the cage. Isley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Isley lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bulger with a lazy takedown attempt and Isley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Oh Bulger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Isley pushes Bulger up against the cage in a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Isley dominated that round. The cut man is working on John Bulger's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Isley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bulger. Bulger seems to have got his legs back now. Bulger looks to score with a jab to the body but Isley is just out of range. Paul Isley seems to be getting the better of the standup. A combination from Isley does no damage. Isley gets caught napping as Bulger dives in and scores a takedown. Isley manages to retain guard. Isley tries to land a sweep but no joy. Isley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Bulger throws a strike but Isley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Isley sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Isley passes Bulger's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bulger is trying to stand back up but Isley is controlling him

Isley passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bulger! Bulger is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Isley controlling the pace for now.

Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Isley controlling the pace for now. Bulger is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Isley controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Let's hope that Isley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
