Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Bubba Rugowski and Carlos Shirahama. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Bubba Rugowski! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Carlos Shirahama! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Shirahama shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rugowski manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Rugowski tries to land a sweep but no joy. Shirahama is fighting to maintain full guard but Rugowski has managed to sneak the leg through. Rugowski is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shirahama doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rugowski. Rugowski content to control rather than advance.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Shirahama looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rugowski controlling the action here. Rugowski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shirahama manages to get to full guard.

Shirahama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rugowski controls the pace. Rugowski passes Shirahama's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rugowski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rugowski perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Rugowski continues to stall.

Rugowski frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Rugowski (5) vs (2) Shirahama Shirahama is trying to escape the mount.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Rugowski takes Shirahama's back. Score +3 for taking back: Rugowski (8) vs (2) Shirahama Rugowski is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Rugowski is looking for the choke from the back position but Shirahama is controlling his hands well. Rugowski controlling the position well here. Shirahama rolled but Rugowski kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Shirahama is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rugowski gets his way!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Rugowski controlling the positon. Rugowski doesn't have the hooks in and Shirahama manages to turn into his guard.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Rugowski is controlling Shirahama's posture. Shirahama wants to control from the top but Rugowski keeps moving. Shirahama might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rugowski haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Shirahama drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rugowski manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shirahama has Rugowski in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Rugowski (10) vs (4) Shirahama Shirahama trying to keep a closed guard but Rugowski is proving a slippery customer.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Rugowski avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Rugowski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Rugowski's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Shirahama is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! Rugowski takes the fight on points by 15 to 4. A relieved looking Bubba Rugowski thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
