Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Segey Taranin and Thorwald Govandekal. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Segey Taranin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Thorwald Govandekal! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Govandekal tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taranin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Govandekal somewhat. Taranin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Govandekal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Taranin (4) vs (0) Govandekal Govandekal wants to control but Taranin postures up. Govandekal is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Taranin is staying active. Taranin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Taranin is trying to get an arm triangle but Govandekal is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taranin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Govandekal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taranin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Taranin is trying to get an arm triangle but Govandekal is defending well. Taranin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Govandekal is looking to regain half guard here but Taranin keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Govandekal struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Govandekal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Taranin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Taranin tries for a kimura but Govandekal is defending well. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Govandekal is looking for a sweep. Taranin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Govandekal is trying to escape and Taranin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Govandekal is forced to tap! Nice work there by Taranin! Very nice indeed!
