Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between August Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Zheng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for August Graves has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, August Graves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Zheng! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zheng keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Zheng feints and as Graves raises his hands in defense, Zheng changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Zheng trying to control the position from guard on top but Graves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Graves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zheng manages to get himself to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zheng throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Zheng is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Graves is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zheng working for submissions but it's allowed Graves to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zheng wants to control but Graves is keeping busy and won't allow it. Graves not landing any meaningful shots this time. Graves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zheng with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Graves postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Zheng to stand up. Zheng changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Graves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Graves bucks up and tries to throw Zheng off but instead Zheng has got his back! Graves wants to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Graves trying to get back to his feet but Zheng is in full control for now. Graves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Zheng is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Graves defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zheng looking for the choke from the back. Zheng controlling the position well here. Graves rolled but Zheng kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Graves trying to get back to his feet but Zheng is in full control for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zheng trying to control. Oooh a big shot gets through from Zheng. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Graves trying to control but not successfully. Zheng lands an elbow to the side of the head. Zheng really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Graves.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Graves is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Graves is in a bad position with Zheng working for a choke. Graves manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Graves lands a couple of digs. Graves is standing up over Zheng. Zheng looks to escape but Graves dives into side control.
Zheng throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Zheng has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Zheng dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Zheng pushes Graves up against the cage in a clinch. Graves manages to break the clinch.
Zheng has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Graves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Zheng swivels and escapes. Zheng looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Graves manages to escape and get back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Zheng enables Graves to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Zheng manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Zheng wriggles free and stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Graves scores with a three punch combo!
John Zheng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zheng gets the takedown into side control. Graves throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Graves takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Graves is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Zheng is controlling him well. Zheng decides to stand back up. Zheng steps back and let's Graves get back to his feet. Nice sprawl there from Zheng as Graves shoots in. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Graves looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zheng is fending him off so far but Graves persists. Nope, Zheng circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for August Graves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zheng instigates a clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Zheng lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like August Graves has been cut. Zheng pulls Graves into guard.
Graves has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Zheng controlling the position. Graves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zheng has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Graves has managed to get both his arms back between Zheng's legs - danger averted. Graves connects with a couple of short punches. Graves throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Zheng throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Graves throwing strikes from guard but Zheng blocks nicely. Graves is sitting in close to Zheng's body. Zheng has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Graves is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Graves is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Zheng.
