The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dyer swings away with a body shot that misses

Matthews looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dyer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Matthews is nestled in close to Dyer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Matthews looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Matthews has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Dyer is looking to escape. Dyer is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matthews is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matthews is taking a breather. Dyer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. This is a sustained period of stalling by Matthews. Matthews is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dyer is just riding it out for now. Matthews eventually gives up the hold. Matthews stops Dyer from getting back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Jason Matthews showed his dominance in that final round. I think Matthews has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
