PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brij Khali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoso has chosen Samba de Janeiro as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cardoso has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Cardoso with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cardoso motions for Khali to come forward. Cardoso throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Khali drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cardoso sprawls and moves away.
Cardoso throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Khali half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cardoso throws a sloppy body shot

and Khali moves into the clinch.
Cardoso misses with a body punch.
Cardoso is working Khali over against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khali works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Khali has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cardoso is proving hard to escape from.

Cardoso is looking for a triangle but Khali pushes his legs off easily.
Khali trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cardoso's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cardoso looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cardoso had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Khali defends it easily.
Cardoso trying to keep a closed guard but Khali is proving a slippery customer.

Cardoso has his feet on Khali's thighs here. He's pushed Khali off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Khali screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

A very excited looking Renato Cardoso rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
