Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Niko Alzate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wei Pei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wei Pei is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Niko Alzate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Wei Pei!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pei tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Alzate moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Pei gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alzate to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pei is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Alzate misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pei can't break the clinch.
Alzate fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Pei manages to break the clinch.
Pei looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wei Pei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alzate takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Pei avoids the body shot from Alzate.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pei.
Alzate drops down looking for a counter takedown but Pei sprawls and moves away.
Alzate fails with a takedown attempt.

Pei swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Alzate counters with a takedown into side control.
Pei avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Alzate.
Alzate throwing strikes but Pei manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Pei is looking to take a break and control but Alzate is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Alzate's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Alzate is looking to reverse the position.
Alzate wants to control but Pei postures up.

Alzate is looking to regain half guard here but Pei keeps moving and retains side control.
Alzate regains half guard there - taking advantage of Pei's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Pei is pressing down on Alzate's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alzate is holding on for now.
Alzate is trying to control but Pei manages to pass to mount!
Alzate really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Pei is just content to waste time from the top position. Alzate takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Alzate pulls Pei in close to prevent any damage.
Pei is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Alzate working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pei doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pei manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Alzate controls Pei momentarily but Pei frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wei Pei dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Alzate works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Pei misses the shot to the body.
Pei throws a lazy head kick

and Alzate counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pei won't be happy with that.
Alzate throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Pei is not content to let Alzate control the position.
Pei is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Alzate's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alzate wants to control but Pei is keeping him busy.

Alzate is working for a kimura but Pei is defending it quite comfortably.
Pei is not content to let Alzate control the position.

Wei Pei is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alzate takes a shot to the body in his stride.

It looks like Wei Pei has been cut.
Pei blocks a jab.
Alzate connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pei takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wei Pei seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Alzate slips a straight right by Pei.
Pei throws a nice outside leg kick.
Alzate rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Pei counters with a stiff right hand.
Pei throws a low kick but Alzate avoids it.
Pei misses with a straight left.
Alzate feinted with a counter takedown.
Pei misses with a low kick.
Alzate checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Alzate swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Alzate sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Alzate throws a quick inside leg kick.
Alzate scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Pei throws a jab when Alzate was well out of range.
Alzate half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Pei misses with a looping left.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pei attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Pei misses the jab.
Alzate thows a leg kick but Pei checks it
and Pei counters with a nice body kick.
Pei throws a head kick that misses

and Alzate counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Pei utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Alzate has gone for a leg lock! Pei slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alzate's guard.

Alzate has his hands on Pei's head, controlling the position.

Alzate not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alzate controlling Pei's posture.
Alzate looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pei is fighting to break Alzate's control of his arms but Alzate is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pei trying to control the position from guard on top but Alzate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A close second round but Wei Pei will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Alzate thows a huge punch but Pei dodges it nicely.
Niko Alzate has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wei Pei is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pei avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alzate.
Pei wants to get back to his feet.
Alzate working the head and body with strikes.
Pei is not content to let Alzate control the position.
Wei Pei has got the better of the ground game so far.

Alzate looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alzate trying to control the action but Pei is working from the bottom.

Alzate is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pei reverses the position - he's now on top in Alzate's guard.
Alzate is trying to keep Pei in close.
Pei tries to free his leg and advance position but Alzate is retaining full guard.
Alzate is adopting a defensive guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alzate looking for a sweep. Not yet Alzate, not yet.
Pei wants to get up but he can't break Alzate's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Alzate controls Pei momentarily but Pei frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alzate closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pei to the mat! Pei manages to get full guard.
Alzate throws a big right hand that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Niko Alzate.
Well Pei has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
