Marlov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Россия Наци . Eugeny Marlov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chekhov ducks right into an uppercut from Marlov.
Marlov works Chekhov's body with a nice hook.
Marlov tries to clinch but Chekhov moves out of range.
Marlov scores with a crisp jab that stopped Chekhov in his tracks.

Marlov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Marlov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marlov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chekhov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Marlov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Marlov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chekhov is looking to escape.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Marlov scores with a sloppy right hand. Chekhov should have avoided that one.
Chekhov shoots for a double leg takedown but Marlov sprawls well. He's pushed Chekhov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Marlov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Marlov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Chekhov avoids a kick to the body.
Marlov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chekhov's head backwards.
Marlov fails with an attempt to clinch.

Chekhov tries to keep at a distance but Marlov has taken the fight into the clinch.

Marlov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marlov tests Chekhov's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Chekhov could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Marlov slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Chekhov drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Chekhov avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Marlov swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Chekhov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Marlov finds it's way round the side to connect with Chekhov's head.
Chekhov avoids a kick to the body.
Marlov's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Marlov duly obliges.
Chekhov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Marlov to score with a decent uppercut.

Marlov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chekhov is not content to let Marlov control the position.

Marlov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chekhov has time to react.

Let's hope that Marlov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Marlov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
