Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Quinn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boe Szyslak! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szyslak slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Quinn throws a series of punches but Szyslak avoids them all with ease. Quinn closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Szyslak's guard. Quinn passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Quinn not doing much here.
Szyslak avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Quinn. Quinn has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Szyslak in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Szyslak is desperately trying to improve his position but Quinn has a good base and remains in mount. Quinn with shots to the head and body - Szyslak looks very uncomfortable down there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Quinn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Szyslak is looking to escape. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's one minute gone in the round. Szyslak keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Szyslak is still trying to improve position. Quinn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Quinn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Quinn putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Szyslak flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Quinn tries to control but Szyslak wriggling away. Quinn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Szyslak is in all sorts of trouble here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Szyslak can do anything to dispel that myth. Quinn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quinn has isolated one of Szyslak's arms. Szyslak looking to fight him off but Quinn twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
