Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wayne Barret! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Cranston! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cranston is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barret sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cranston tries for a takedown but Barret sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Barret shoots in but Cranston avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nice sprawl there from Cranston as Barret shoots in. Cranston gets in close and instigates a clinch. Barret has Cranston pressed against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cranston. Cranston pulls guard. Barret showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barret wants to control from the top but Cranston keeps moving. Barret throwing strikes from guard but Cranston blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cranston utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barret wants to pass the guard but Cranston is keeping the position. Barret is stalling in the full guard. Barret tries to free his leg and advance position but Cranston is retaining full guard. Barret trying to control the position from guard on top but Cranston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Barret rushes Cranston and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Barret breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Barret closes the distance and clinches. Barret is trying to pull guard but Cranston has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Barret. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barret breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Barret looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cranston! Cranston throws Barret to one side and escapes! The fight moves into the clinch position. Cranston misses with the head strike.

Barret wants to take the fight to the mat but Cranston manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Barret fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cranston looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Barret goes for a takedown attempt but Cranston pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Barret fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cranston avoids it really well and circles away. Barret bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Cranston chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Barret can pounce on him.
Barret closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cranston circles away. Barret shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cranston sprawls well. Cranston wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barret gets slowly back to his feet. Cranston is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barret closes the distance and clinches. Barret breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cranston moves in looking to clinch but Barret pushes him off. Excellent takedown into side control there by Barret. Barret swings around for an armbar but Cranston sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Barret's guard. Barret knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cranston on the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barret pulls Cranston in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Wayne Barret will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Barret decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Barret missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Cranston is trying to get back to full guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Barret in particular looking to stall. Barret throwing shots but Cranston is blocking nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barret decides to return to a standing position. Barret clinches up against the cage. Cranston misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Barret.
Barret tries to pull guard but Cranston won't allow it.
Barret's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barret gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cranston lands a right hand. Barret pulls guard effortlessly. Barret tries to strike from the bottom.
Barret on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barret tries to get out of the position. Barret controls Cranston momentarily but Cranston frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barret is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barret looking for a sweep. Not yet Barret, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barret working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Cranston has passed into half guard!
Barret looks like he's trying to stand up.
Barret is looking for a sweep. Cranston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Barret is trying to control but can't.
Barret is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Cranston jumps into side control! Barret is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Barret's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Barret is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cranston is controlling him well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kyle Cranston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cranston takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Barret scores with a kick to the body.
Cranston is breathing heavily. Barret shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cranston sprawls well. Cranston wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barret gets slowly back to his feet. Barret scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Barret moves into range and connects with a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cranston takes a kick to the side of the head.
Cranston is rocked! Barret closes the distance and clinches. Barret lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Cranston backwards. Cranston is still on wobbly legs! Can Barret finish him? Barret jumps guard but Cranston stands there with Barret around his waist. Barret gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cranston seems to have recovered his senses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Barret. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barret blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Barret manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barret trying to control the position here. Barret wants to sweep but no luck. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wayne Barret dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Barret throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cranston's waist but Cranston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barret off to one side. Barret has closed the distance and engaged Cranston in a clinch.
Cranston tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Barret escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cranston tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Barret dives in for a single leg takedown but Cranston sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Barret.
Barret shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cranston as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Barret. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barret lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Cranston is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Cranston shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barret as he avoids it easily. Cranston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cranston looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barret is fending him off so far but Cranston persists. Nope, Barret circles away and we're back to standing. Barret instigates a clinch. Cranston prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cranston throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Barret jumps guard and drags Cranston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Barret has control of Cranston's left arm, preventing Cranston from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barret is looking for a triangle but Cranston pushes his legs off easily.
Cranston postures up.
Barret looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cranston puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Barret is controlling Cranston's position as best he can from this difficult position. Kyle Cranston has got the better of the ground game so far. Barret wants to improve his position but Cranston is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cranston tries for a takedown but Barret sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Barret lands a nice looking kick to the body. Cranston takes a step back to recover. No luck with that takedown attempt from Barret. Barret scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Barret has closed the distance and engaged Cranston in a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barret pulls guard. Barret is trying to control the position but Cranston postures up. Cranston prevents Barret from getting back to his feet. Barret is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cranston can do to turn this around? Barret is controlling Cranston's posture. Barret manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Barret shoots for a double leg takedown but Cranston sprawls well. He's pushed Barret's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cranston fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barret drops Cranston with a beautiful combination! Cranston stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Barret is looking for the KO! Barret fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cranston sprawls well initially but Barret persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kyle Cranston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Well, if Barret is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that's the end of the fight! Wayne Barret showed his dominance in that final round. Well Barret has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
