PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roscoe Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mic Zee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mic Zee will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roscoe Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mic Zee!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zee takes the fight into the clinch.
Jacobs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Zee to keep the fight standing.
Zee can't break the clinch.

Zee turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zee manages to end up in side control.

Zee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jacobs, who protects the arm well.
Jacobs tries to escape but Zee is in control.
Jacobs is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacobs gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Jacobs misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Jacobs works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Zee wants to control from the top but Jacobs keeps moving.
Jacobs keeping full guard, as Zee tries to pass.
Jacobs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Zee postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Zee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jacobs, up you get!

Zee drives through and clinches with Jacobs against the cage.
Jacobs on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Jacobs ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jacobs no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Zee won't allow Jacobs to get back to his feet.

Jacobs has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Zee is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zee tries to land a knee to the head but Jacobs blocks with his arms.
Zee goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Jacobs fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Zee wants the takedown. Jacobs is fighting it off but Zee persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jacobs's guard against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jacobs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zee trying to control the position from guard on top but Jacobs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jacobs wants to stand and escape but Zee is having none of it.
Jacobs looking for a sweep. Not yet Jacobs, not yet.
Zee controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zee postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Zee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Zee trying to control but Jacobs is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zee looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jacobs shoots in and bounces Zee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Zee manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Jacobs tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zee just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roscoe Jacobs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A bit of stalling here from Zee.
Zee looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Zee is trying to break free.
Zee pushes off an throws an elbow but Jacobs leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mic Zee dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jacobs misses with a takedown
and Zee counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Zee shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jacobs is trying to defend but Zee finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jacobs manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Zee keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Zee pulls guard effortlessly.
Jacobs is looking to work some ground and pound but Zee has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zee wants to control but Jacobs passes easily into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jacobs controlling the action here.
Jacobs wants to stand but Zee has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jacobs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zee.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jacobs throws a big elbow that misses.
Zee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jacobs with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zee pulls Jacobs in close to his closed guard and prevents Jacobs from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Zee shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jacobs napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jacobs tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jacobs is looking to escape.
Jacobs is wriggling around trying to escape.
Zee looking to finish Jacobs with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jacobs!
Zee looking to control and managing it successfully.
Zee lands a nice shot to the head.
Zee lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jacobs has given up his back here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jacobs tries to break free.
Jacobs is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Zee lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.


Jacobs is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jacobs tries to escape the position.
Zee trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Jacobs doesn't escape.
Jacobs tries to roll but Zee sticks to his back.
Zee slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Jacobs tries to escape the position.
Jacobs is trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mic Zee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Zee connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Zee lands with a right that hurts Jacobs. Jacobs looks to clinch but Zee throws a short knee that drops Jacobs. This one is all over!
