Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Garland Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gil Handerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gil Handerson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Garland Houston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gil Handerson! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Houston fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Handerson, pushing him back against the cage. Houston is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Handerson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Houston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Handerson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Houston's waist but Houston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Handerson off to one side. Handerson shoots in and gets a takedown into Houston's guard. Houston has control of Handerson's left arm, preventing Handerson from doing any damage. Handerson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Handerson controls from within his opponent's guard. Houston is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Houston is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Handerson is looking to improve his position.
Handerson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Houston.
That's one minute gone in the round. Houston in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Houston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Houston throwing strikes from guard but Handerson blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Houston working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Houston is looking to work some ground and pound but Handerson has wrist control. Houston throws a big right hand that misses. Houston trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Houston working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Handerson's head. Houston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Houston is working Handerson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Handerson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Houston really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Houston throws a sloppy strike and Handerson has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Houston is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Handerson!
