Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Tripplet! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Freddy Kruger! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tripplet is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Nice shot lands for Kruger. Kruger misses with a looping left. Tripplet throws a big counter combination but Kruger scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Tripplet moves out of range as Kruger strikes. Tripplet slips a jab from Kruger. A jab from Tripplet misses. Tripplet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bruce Tripplet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tripplet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kruger circles away quickly and effectively. Kruger wants to counter with a clinch but Tripplet pushes him away. Tripplet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kruger takes a swing at Tripplet's ribcage but misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tripplet looks to land a combination but Kruger avoids it well. Tripplet with a body punch. A glancing blow. Tripplet scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kruger doesn't seem bothered though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tripplet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kruger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tripplet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tripplet throws a hook to the side of Kruger's head but Kruger sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Tripplet scores with a jab to the body. Tripplet looks to throw the jab but Kruger is out of range. Kruger throws a body punch but Tripplet moves out of range. A punch lands to the side of Kruger 's head but he takes it in his stride. Tripplet has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Tripplet there as he acknowledges the shot. Kruger throws a sloppy head kick and Tripplet moves out of range easily. Tripplet tries to bum rush Kruger with a series of wild strikes but Kruger uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kruger misses with an uppercut
and Tripplet counters with a stiff right hand. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Tripplet!
We've been told by Tripplet's head coaches at Devils Den New York that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Kruger throws a hook but Tripplet blocks it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kruger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tripplet avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Tripplet seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Tripplet throws a right hand that Kruger ducks under and follows up with a left that Kruger also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kruger connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tripplet momentarily.
Tripplet needs to keep his hands up - Kruger had a free shot at his head there. Tripplet misses with a series of wild punches.
Kruger misses with an uppercut
and Tripplet counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Tripplet throws a right and a left that Kruger avoids nicely. Tripplet cracks Kruger with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Tripplet slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Kruger has closed the distance and engaged Tripplet in a clinch.

Kruger is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kruger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tripplet defends it easily. Tripplet has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kruger is proving hard to escape from. Kruger trying to control the position here. Tripplet controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Kruger has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tripplet can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tripplet wants to control from the top but Kruger keeps moving. Tripplet is looking to stand up but Kruger won't let him. Kruger seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kruger has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tripplet can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Kruger trying to keep a closed guard but Tripplet is proving a slippery customer.

Kruger's coach down at Body Pain_14elite_650$+VM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kruger's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kruger takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Kruger lands with a right hand. Kruger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tripplet.

Tripplet throws a series of punches but Kruger moves out of range. Bruce Tripplet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tripplet throws out a loose jab but Kruger uses good head movement to avoid it. Kruger throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kruger throws a big shot that misses.

Tripplet rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kruger moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kruger lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Tripplet falls backwards - clearly groggy! Kruger dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Bruce Tripplet spoke after the fight, saying 'I don't know what to say. I trained so hard. I just wanted to knock this guy out so bad. I will be back. I promise you'.
