PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Slevin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordus Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slevin comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman. Clay has chosen SCOTLAND THE BRAVE !!! as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Slevin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordus Clay!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay scores with a decent looking hook.
Slevin throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Clay counters with a nice uppercut.
Slevin avoids the body shot from Clay.
Clay lands with an overhand left.
Slevin bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Gordus Clay has been cut.
Clay moves out of range of the body kick.
Slevin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Slevin on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Clay dives in and grabs Slevin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slevin pushes down on Clay's head and hops out.
Clay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Slevin sizes up Clay with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The fighters circling - Slevin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Clay looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Slevin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Slevin throws the left hand but Clay avoids the punch easily.
Slevin misses with a straight left.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Slevin.
Tony Slevin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Clay fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Slevin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Clay connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Clay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slevin manages to avoid it.
Slevin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Clay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Clay ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Slevin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Clay stalks Slevin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Slevin's face. Slevin staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Tony Slevin has been cut.
Clay is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Slevin rather than just go for the knockout.
Clay shoots in for a takedown but Slevin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Slevin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Clay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slevin keeps working.

Slevin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Clay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Clay thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Slevin's head.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Slevin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gordus Clay seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Clay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slevin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Clay somewhat.

Slevin throws a lazy right hand but Clay sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Clay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slevin moves away.
Slevin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Clay's head.

and Clay counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Clay.
Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but Slevin is retaining full guard.

Slevin shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Clay throws a series of punches but Slevin avoids them all with ease.

Slevin has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Clay has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Slevin lands a nice uppercut.
Clay blocks a punch to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Clay lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Clay lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Clay scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Clay avoids the elbow strike from Slevin, against the cage.
Slevin takes a shot to the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Slevin.
Clay tries to throw a body punch but Slevin avoids it by throwing Clay back against the cage.
Slevin misses with the head strike.
Clay tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Slevin's elbow.

Clay pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A swing and a miss from Clay.
Slevin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Slevin there as he acknowledges the shot.
Slevin needs to keep his hands up - Clay had a free shot at his head there.
Clay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Slevin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Clay lands a big right hand that sends Slevin crashing to the mat! Clay stays standing though and waves Slevin back to his feet!


Slevin is rocked!
Clay cracks Slevin on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Slevin falls backwards against the cage. Clay follows up with more strikes that drop Slevin to his knees. Clay keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Slevin! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gordus Clay!
Our winner, Gordus Clay, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
