Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dao Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dao Sonnen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joseph Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels tries to clinch but Sonnen is having none of it.
Michaels wants to clinch but Sonnen slips to the side
and Sonnen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Joseph Michaels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Michaels throws a head kick but Sonnen moves out of range.
Sonnen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sonnen lands a big head kick that sends Michaels tumbling to the mat! Sonnen takes a step backwards and waves Michaels back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Joseph Michaels has been cut.
Michaels gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Sonnen gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Michaels is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dao Sonnen!
