0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Manny Alvarez! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shibaloma throws a low kick, looking for Alvarez's leg but Alvarez calmly moves out of range. Alvarez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Alvarez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Shibaloma avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice body kick there by Shibaloma. Alvarez misses with a straight left. Alvarez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Shibaloma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shibaloma throws a leg kick that is checked and Alvarez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alvarez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Shibaloma! Alvarez working for a guillotine from mount but Shibaloma is in no mood to give up. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alvarez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shibaloma has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alvarez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Shibaloma to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Shibaloma shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Shibaloma has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Alvarez content just to control the position here. Alvarez moves to take his opponent's back. Alvarez is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Shibaloma is tapping out! This one is all over!
