Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cornelius Carr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Kroblur! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carr throws a body punch but Kroblur moves out of range. Carr bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kroblur's head backwards. Kroblur avoids the body shot from Carr.
Carr scores with a jab to the jaw. Carr throws a hook but Kroblur avoids it easily. Kroblur tries for a takedown but Carr circles away easily and Carr counters with a straight right hand. Kroblur tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carr defends well and Kroblur ends up having to push Carr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Carr dips down and scores with a jab to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carr connects with a right hand. Kroblur shakes it off. We've been informed that Kroblur has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Carr misses with a hook to the body
and Kroblur counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carr takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cornelius Carr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carr misses with a hook. Kroblur ducked under it nicely. Carr looks to land a left hand but Kroblur moved out of range nicely. And Kroblur tries to counter it with a takedown but Carr pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carr scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Carr fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kroblur manages to avoid it. Carr stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Carr keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carr was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Kroblur ducks under a wild hook from Carr. Kroblur is looking for the big counter here. Carr comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Carr with a hook. Kroblur steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carr. Kroblur fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carr looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kroblur throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carr was covering up waiting for the punch and Kroblur finishes the takedown easily into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kroblur throws a strike but Carr rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kroblur looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carr passes into side control.
Kroblur is trying to get back to half guard. Carr decides to stand back up. Kroblur uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Carr. Kroblur is looking to land body kicks. Carr misses with a body shot.
Kroblur drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Carr defends it well. Kroblur lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kroblur thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Carr if he has to take too many more of those.

Kroblur fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Carr smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Kroblur takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Carr lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kroblur has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kroblur and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kroblur uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carr.
Carr looks to throw the jab but Kroblur is out of range. Carr connects with a crisp jab. Carr gets caught napping as Kroblur dives in and scores a takedown. Carr manages to retain guard. Carr scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kroblur scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kroblur uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carr. Kroblur tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A jab from Carr misses. Kroblur throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Kroblur throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've been told by Carr's head coaches at Wild Card that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Kroblur walks into a stiff left hand from Carr. Kroblur tries to bum rush Carr with a series of wild strikes but Carr uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Carr throws a lazy uppercut
and Kroblur counters with a body kick. Kroblur lets loose with a powerful body kick. Carr will feel that in the morning. Carr is looking to chop away at Kroblur's legs. Good shot there by Carr. Kroblur throws a half hearted mid kick. Kroblur moves out of range as Carr strikes. Kroblur drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Carr defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cornelius Carr dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Carr throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Carr misses the shot to the body. Carr throws a big shot that misses. Kroblur counters with a body kick. Carr scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Good exchange - Kroblur coming out on top. Kroblur takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A big left from Carr misses. Kroblur appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Carr throws a jab when Kroblur was well out of range. Kroblur throws a hook but Carr avoids it easily. Carr was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carr throws a hook but Kroblur blocks it. Kroblur throws a push kick but Carr slaps the foot to one side. Carr fires out a quick counter leg kick but Kroblur just manages to avoid it. A big right from Kroblur misses. Carr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kroblur was well out of range. Poor timing from Carr.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kroblur throws a body kick that misses. Carr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kroblur. Kroblur feints the counter takedown. Carr scores with a shot to the body.
Carr misses the body punch and Kroblur counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Carr misses with an uppercut. Nice shot lands for Carr. Kroblur looks to land a combination. Carr sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Cornelius Carr is winning the standup battle so far. Carr throws a big shot that misses. Kroblur feints a counter leg kick. Carr throws a nice outside leg kick. Carr scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. A telegraphed right hand from Carr misses the target. The fighters circling - Carr throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kroblur ducks right into an uppercut from Carr. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carr staying out of range there. Carr dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Carr misses with a left hand and Kroblur counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Carr tests Kroblur's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kroblur connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kroblur fails with a takedown attempt. Carr is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kroblur can do to turn this around? Carr looks to land a right hand but Kroblur moved out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A chopping leg kick lands by Kroblur. Carr moves out of range as Kroblur throws a body kick.
A combination from Carr does no damage. Carr throws a shot from downtown. Kroblur moves away and avoids it. Kroblur appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Kroblur shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kroblur was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kroblur is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Carr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kroblur tries to advance to mount but Carr denies him. Carr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kroblur wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kroblur trying to control the position but Carr is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cornelius Carr dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Carr looks to score with a jab to the body but Kroblur is just out of range. Kroblur cracks Carr with a right hand to the side of the head. Carr throws a jab but it's blocked by Kroblur. Carr ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Kroblur takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kroblur moves away from the strike by Carr. And Kroblur tries to counter it with a takedown but Carr pushes his down on his head and steps out. Carr looks to score with a jab to the body but Kroblur is just out of range. Kroblur was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Kroblur keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Carr connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Kroblur throws a body kick that misses. Carr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Carr swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Kroblur uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carr.
Kroblur appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Carr misses with a few strikes there.
Carr misses with an uppercut
and Kroblur counters with a takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kroblur throws a strike aimed at the side of Carr's head but Carr avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. An elbow from Kroblur crashes against the mat.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kroblur postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Carr on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Kroblur cracks Carr with an elbow. That is naaassty. Carr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kroblur wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carr wants to control but Kroblur postures up. Kroblur tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Kroblur tries to score with some ground and pound. Carr controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Carr defending against the ground and pound. Carr parries the strikes from Kroblur easily there. Kroblur is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carr to escape.
Kroblur lands a nice forearm strike. Kroblur controlling from side mount. Carr defending against the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kroblur lands a nice forearm strike. Kroblur has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Carr is letting Kroblur control him for a moment. Kroblur throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Kroblur wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carr keeps working. Carr is trying to get back to half guard. Carr stops Kroblur from passing to mount. Matt Kroblur has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kroblur wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carr, who protects the arm well.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cornelius Carr. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
