PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Max Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Teller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Steel !
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A leg kick checked by Steel .
Teller lands a right hook to the body.
Steel tries to clinch up
and Steel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Teller changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Teller keeps the fight on the outside.
Steel 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Teller connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Steel scrambles back to his feet.
Teller fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Teller circles away from the clinch attempt
enabling Teller to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Teller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Steel is looking to clinch but Teller is avoiding it.
Steel doesn't manage to clinch there - Teller circles away.

Teller closes the distance and pushes Steel back into the ropes.

Steel creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Teller avoids the elbow strike from Steel , against the ropes.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

As Steel looks to move away, Teller throws a big counter combo but Steel just gets out of the way.
A decent looking cross lands there for Teller.
Steel tries to clinch up.
Nice jab there from Teller.
Teller chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Steel tries to clinch but Teller moves away
and Teller counters with a straight right hand.
Teller looks for the body kick but Steel saw that one coming.
Steel appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Steel is looking to clinch but Teller is avoiding it.
Teller lands a lovely overhand right.
Steel shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Teller swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Teller counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Teller scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Teller jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.


Steel is rocked!
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Teller paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steel walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Steel is still on wobbly legs! Can Teller finish him?
A punch lands to the side of Steel 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Teller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Steel seems to have recovered his senses.
Steel misses with a hook to the ribs.

Teller manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Teller does no damage.
Teller connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Steel momentarily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Teller. Steel shrugs it off though.
Steel tries a head kick but it misses.
Steel moves in looking to clinch but Teller pushes him off.
Teller throws a half hearted mid kick.
Steel ducks right into an uppercut from Teller.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steel takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Teller swats away the attempt to clinch by Steel .
Teller fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Steel checks it well.
Teller cracks Steel with an open hand slap.
Steel gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Teller.
Steel doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Teller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Steel moves away.
Teller throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Steel throws a big counter head kick but Teller avoids it with no problem.
Teller throws a series of punches but Steel moves out of range.
Steel throws a looping overhand right but Teller ducks down to avoid it.
Teller throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Teller throws a series of strikes that have Steel backpedaling.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Steel throws a head kick that misses.
Steel throws a head kick but Teller moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Teller dominated that second round.
That's time! Teller's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Teller cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Steel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Teller finds it's way round the side to connect with Steel 's head.
Steel tries to clinch but Teller is having none of it.
Teller lands a lovely overhand right.
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch but Teller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Steel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Teller stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Teller throws a body punch but Steel moves out of range.
Nice shot lands for Teller.

Steel moves into the clinch successfully.
Steel comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Teller blocks an elbow strike.

Chuck Steel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Steel pushes off an throws an elbow but Teller leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Teller has had enough of the clinch but Steel keeps him there for the moment.
Teller lands a left hand that snaps the head of Steel backwards.
Max Teller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Teller swings wildly with an uppercut but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Teller avoids a wild elbow strike from Steel .
Teller goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Teller lands a left hand.

Teller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Teller circles away from the clinch attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Teller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Teller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
