Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dillon Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierre Phoenix has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dillon Vaughn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pierre Phoenix! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Phoenix. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Vaughn struggling a bit here. You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face as Phoenix controls the position. You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Phoenix is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vaughn will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vaughn is trying to get back to half guard. Phoenix is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vaughn's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vaughn tries to buck Phoenix off but Phoenix is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vaughn is letting Phoenix control him for a moment. Vaughn stops Phoenix from passing to mount. Vaughn tries to bench press Phoenix off him but Phoenix keeps the position. Phoenix controlling the position from side mount. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Phoenix lands a few punches from side control. Phoenix moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Phoenix is working Vaughn over with some ground and pound from side control. The referee asks Phoenix politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Phoenix prefers to stall for the moment though. Vaughn is looking for a sweep. Phoenix has knee on belly and moves into mount. Vaughn really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Phoenix lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Phoenix landing strikes from the mount and Vaughn is in trouble! Vaughn wants to hold on but Phoenix pushes him away. Vaughn is trying desperately to improve position. Phoenix controlling from mount. Vaughn gets back to half guard. Still in half guard, Phoenix seems content to control. Phoenix has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phoenix wants to pass the guard but Vaughn is defending well. Phoenix keeps trying to improve his position. Phoenix is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Phoenix wants to pass to mount but Vaughn is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pierre Phoenix dominated that round. That's time! Vaughn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Phoenix closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Phoenix is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vaughn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pierre Phoenix has got the better of the ground game so far. Vaughn tries to improve position but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vaughn is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Phoenix wants to stand but Vaughn has his arm trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Phoenix tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Phoenix passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Vaughn! Vaughn can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Phoenix's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Phoenix landing strikes, looking to finish! Vaughn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vaughn tries to hold on but Phoenix pushes him away. Phoenix is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vaughn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vaughn shrugs it off. Vaughn is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Vaughn is trying desperately to improve position. Phoenix in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Phoenix looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Phoenix jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Vaughn is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Vaughn and Phoenix has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face as Phoenix controls the position. Vaughn on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Phoenix working the ground and pound. Vaughn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Phoenix looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vaughn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vaughn is rocked! Phoenix trying to control the pace. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Phoenix looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Pierre Phoenix showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix working the head and body with strikes. Vaughn wants to control but Phoenix passes into side.

Vaughn trying to control but Phoenix flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Vaughn rolls, trying to escape but Phoenix keeps control of the position.
Phoenix trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Vaughn doesn't escape. I really don't envy Vaughn right now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phoenix gets his hands free as Vaughn looks to control. Phoenix has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Phoenix throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Vaughn!
Phoenix looking to break Vaughn's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Vaughn remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Phoenix will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Phoenix has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Vaughn. Phoenix scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

A helpless look comes across Vaughn 's face. He knows he's trapped as Phoenix lands a series of unanswered strikes. The ref steps in to stop the fight and this one is in the books!
