Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Palmer Roberson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Palmer Roberson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patrick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roberson was covering up waiting for the punch and Patrick finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Patrick is looking to stand up but Roberson won't let him.

Roberson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Patrick cracks Roberson with a solid left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patrick controlling from the top position.
Patrick wants to stand but Roberson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roberson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Roberson is really struggling to control Patrick but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Patrick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Patrick shoots in and bounces Roberson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Patrick has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Roberson is proving hard to escape from.
Roberson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Roberson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Roberson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Patrick gets a takedown into half guard.
Patrick uses his free foot to push down on Roberson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roberson.

Roberson is squirming around, avoiding Patrick's attempts to control the action.
Patrick connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Patrick is trying to control here but Roberson has managed to regain half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Patrick drives through with a takedown into Roberson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Patrick swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Roberson is now in Patrick's guard. A big mistake from Patrick there, giving up the dominant position!

Patrick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roberson defends it easily.

Patrick has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Roberson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Roberson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patrick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roberson has managed to get both his arms back between Patrick's legs - danger averted.

Roberson wants to take a breather but Patrick is having none of it.
It looks like Roberson is going to stand back up.
Roberson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Roberson is trying to control. Patrick wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Patrick feints and as Roberson raises his hands in defense, Patrick changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Patrick connects with a couple of short punches.
Patrick postures up.

Patrick wants to stand but Roberson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Roberson controlling the position.
Roberson keeping moving, preventing Patrick from controlling successfully.
Roberson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

John Patrick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Roberson is looking for a sweep. Patrick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Patrick wants to take a breather but Roberson is having none of it.
Roberson wants to improve his position but Patrick is controlling well.

Roberson is staying active underneath Patrick, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Patrick moves into range and clinches up with Roberson.

Roberson wants to get up but he can't break Patrick's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Patrick wants to stand and escape but instead Roberson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Patrick throws a lazy head kick
and Roberson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Patrick throws a sloppy head kick and Roberson moves out of range easily.

Roberson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Roberson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Palmer Roberson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Patrick is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Patrick must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
