PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boe Szyslak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quach Minh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minh has chosen beautiful life as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quach Minh!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minh tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Minh tries to score with a low kick but Szyslak moves his leg out of the way.

Szyslak gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Minh goes for a takedown in the clinch but Szyslak prevents it.
Minh fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Szyslak breaks from the clinch.
Minh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Szyslak as he jumps to the side.
Szyslak throwing a counter right hand but Minh manages to avoid it.
Boe Szyslak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quach Minh.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Szyslak lands a big shot that drops Minh! Can he finish him?

It looks like Quach Minh has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Szyslak trying to stand up but can't free himself from Minh's guard.
Szyslak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Minh on the ground.

Szyslak working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Szyslak controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Minh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Szyslak closes the distance and clinches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Szyslak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Minh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Szyslak defends it nicely.

Szyslak drives through and clinches with Minh against the cage.
Minh with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Minh misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Szyslak.

Szyslak breaks from the clinch.
Minh takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Minh tries to keep at a distance but Szyslak has taken the fight into the clinch.
Minh slows down the pace here.
Szyslak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Minh smiles and moves away.
Szyslak circles away from the clinch attempt.
Minh should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Szyslak defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Minh.
Minh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Szyslak but Szyslak pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Szyslak moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

No joy there for Szyslak, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Minh tries to counter with a clinch but Szyslak shakes him off and moves away.
Szyslak scores with a jab.
Minh shoots in and drives through. Szyslak sprawls well.
Szyslak appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Minh looks winded!
Szyslak misses with a few strikes there.
Minh doesn't manage to clinch there - Szyslak circles away.
Minh has his takedown stuffed
and Szyslak counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Minh is rocked!

Szyslak moves into the clinch.
Minh is still on wobbly legs! Can Szyslak finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!

Szyslak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
and Szyslak counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Minh! He's just covering up as Szyslak starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Boe Szyslak!
Quach Minh was interviewed post fight and said 'fuck'.
