Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haven Baez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haven Baez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Gates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Haven Baez! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Baez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Baez working the head with strikes.
It looks like Josh Gates has been cut. Gates can't do much from the bottom here. Gates tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Baez easily slips into full mount! Baez is in the full mount, landing strikes. Baez avoids the attempt from Gates to control. Gates is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Gates keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Gates tries to lock up and control but Baez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baez is looking to stand but Gates has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Baez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Baez wants to control the pace but Gates is squirming around nicely. Gates holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Baez tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Baez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gates is now in Baez's guard. A big mistake from Baez there, giving up the dominant position! Baez keeping moving, preventing Gates from controlling successfully. Gates wants to pass the guard but Baez is keeping the position. Baez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Gates frees his head nicely. Oh but Baez has switched to an armbar! Gates is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
